My Little Monkey

Nebulous Nesting
I've been in a bit of a haze lately! We are due to meet our little boy in less than 6 weeks and things have been crazy around here. Mr. Misty and I have kicked "nesting" into high gear - not only are we buying up all the overwhelmingly adorable tiny things we see, but we are doing some upgrades to our home, all in anticipation of our little monkey. I don't want to post any nursery pictures until it's complete, but here are a few things I'm willing to share so far!
Jack's "Coming Home" Outfit
I searched the entire country for the pieces to this discontinued Graco Kasbah Set. I had to import the play-yard from Arizona! (I'm a little obsessive about things matching).
And because I just can't help myself (and am already turning into one of those obnoxious mother's who brags about her kid all the time)... Here are Jack's first head shots - 3D Ultrasound at 34 weeks.
Check out that silly smile! His hand all up in his face as if to say "oh my goshhhhhhh mom, you are soooooooooo embarassing!!!!!!!!!"
...... It's really only a matter of time!

Edited to add one more thing. Oh my goodness. I entered childhood pictures of me and my Mister to MorphThing to create this baby predictor. SOOOOOO Cute!

"Vegetarian Hamburgers"
Today was the last day of school! I'll begin my maternity leave at the beginning of September so I won't actually teach for at least 365 days. That's so insane to imagine. Granted, I'm sure I'll be able to keep myself busy with our little one, and photoshoots... but I sure will miss the faces of my little angels every day. To celebrate our last day together I made these adorable Hamburger Cupcakes! They tasted even better than they look!

I Shot Maria & Her Belly (and her awesome family too)
I was so thrilled when Maria contacted me to snap up her growing belly! I fell in love with this family last year when we did a huge "Happy" shoot together. It was super hot today but Maria didn't complain about the heat (and neither did I, thank you very much!). Here are a few teasers from their "Jolly" session. It's now off to bed so I can be well rested for my second last week of school! Yipppeeeeee!

Pretty & Patient Miss J
Just finished up my backlog of editing (finally). This creating-a-human gig has really hindered my productivity as of late. Unfortunately this means I've started to take on less projects for the summer, so if you are interested in booking a session try to contact me soon as my available dates are filling up quickly!
Pretty MissJ isn't getting married until September so unfortunately I queued her images for a short while to ensure that clients who needed their photos earlier were attended to. Because you have been so amazingly patient, Miss J, please accept my gift of four free 5x7s or two free 8x10s. Let me know what you decide after checking out your personal online gallery!

Our Babymoon
We suspect that me and my ever-expanding belly won't be able to fit in the tiny convertible for much longer so Mr. Misty and I spent an extra*extra long weekend cruising the wondrous west for our early babymoon. It was incredible.
We drove from Edmonton to Vancouver - stayed in the posh Listel Hotel on Robson Street. We visited Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquairium. We took the Ferry to the island and stayed and the most beautiful resort I've ever seen - The Blackrock Oceanfront Resort in Ucluelet. It was absolutely magnificent. Our suite overlooked the crashing ocean and majestic bald eagles flew past the floor to ceiling oceanfront windows as we enjoyed our early morning breakfast. We also spent a chilly day cruising through the Pacific Rim National Park, stopping in Tofino, and watching the surfers brave the frigid waters at Long Beach. We ventured south to Castlegar (to visit the in-law's) and finally made it home (avoiding the snow completely) late Tuesday night.
Here's a slideshow of some of the images I've edited so far. Enjoy ♥

Centerfolds
I can't help but share a few more of my latest and greatest images from some Sexy session! When the world develops infinitely and humans get to choose their own body parts, I want to pick out Miss V's eyes and Miss W's lips. Wowza!

Easter Treats and Muddy Feets
Spring has finally arrived in Edmonton! To celebrate this long awaited change of seasons we had a special family weekend. Mr. Misty enjoyed his annual egg hunt with clues that led to his Easter Basket, and Mr. Oreo got super muddy trekking through the trails on the first weekend of dog walks sans our winter coats! Finally, I've come out of hibernation... and am smelling the spring flowers. Nice to see you all again♥

Bedroom Eyes
I finished editing one complete boudoir session from last weekend. Woohoo! This lovely bride-to-be is getting married in Cabo in a few short weeks, so I was happy to get them done for her so quickly. I am so in love with how the images turned out. Here are a few of my favourites from her "Sexy" shoot!

Mistypictures Boudoir Marathon!!!
Yesterday I hosted my first-ever Boudoir Marathon! I spent the day with 6 gorgeous women who inspired me, and made me laugh for hours on end. Special thanks to makeup artist (and my good pal) Alethea who did an incredible job dolling up the ladies, and warming them up before their session with me. With SIX shoots waiting to be edited, I only have time to post a few teasers. I hope you beautiful ladies enjoy!

Mommylicious
I haven't posted in a few weeks, but I have a pretty solid excuse. I've been super busy.... GESTATING!
Yup, Mr. Misty and I have created a tiny little monkey and have stayed all hunkered down for the past few weeks because I'm terrible at keeping secrets. I was finally able to spill today at my dad's birthday! We announced our good news to my parents by giving my dad an engraved "GRANDPA" mug. We gave Adam's parents a frame with a poem to introduce them to their first grandchild.

I'm bursting with mommyness (can't you tell??); this is so incredible! OH! and I had to share these digital predictions, just for funsies!

T'is the Season
Festival of Trees
My mister and I had a lovely Sunday afternoon date! We grabbed Starbucks and took a brisk walk around downtown and went to the Festival of Trees. The festival hosts a plethora of decorated trees and Christmas activities. Our favourite part was the outrageous gingerbread houses!
(Check out the ALBERTA Tree!)

P.S. Our theme this week is "T'is the Season" ~ this outing really got me in the mood!

Big Brother
Shhh.... It's a surprise!
I took some pictures of Mr. Misty and his brother this afternoon (a very quick 15 minute session was about all these guys were up for). It's a secret session because the images are a Christmas present. I'm giving some framed portraits to their mom and making a calendar for their dad! Here are a couple from this afternoon. The first shot is of my loveguy ♥ - pretty dreamy eh?!

Blended to Perfection!
This chilly afternoon I got to warm up my heart with a (oh-my-gosh gorgeous) blended family. Ashley contacted me to get some family shots done as a huge Christmas gift to her loved ones (Amazing ♥). It still hasn't snowed here in beautiful Edmonton, so instead of the snowball shots we planned, we hung out around Whyte and captured this urban family out on the town!

miracle.
I love taking photographs.
I love the challenge of working with natural light.
I love editing to create art.
But more than all that, I love meeting amazing people and being part of a moment in their lives.
Today I was touched by a miracle.
A miracle revealing the power of hope, love and faith.
Sisters reunited after the the most devastating divide.
My simple words aren't worthy of their story; all I can give are some images of an incredible bond. Kristen & Shannon, you've altered my heart in a way that will never be undone. I'm so grateful to have met you. I hope you enjoy the memories we created today.

Yoga Bump
My beautiful (inside and out) dear-old-friend Clare is carrying a precious gift! I was absolutely honoured to take photos of her - especially because she's a mega wicked yoga instructor who maintains her moves, flexibility and balance at a whopping 34 weeks! Here are a few shots from our afternoon together.
